Upgrade SAP Components for Fiori instalation with ACPs (Attribute Change Packages)

Hi community,

We are trying to install Fiori on EHP6 for SAP ERP 6.0 and SAP NW 7.0. We found out that in order to install the Fiori and Gateway components like GW_CORE, IW_BEP etc. we also need to upgrade some of our already existing components like BI_CONT 747, EA-APPL 606 FI-CA606 etc.

Our concern and my question to you is:

Will this upgrade, of the already existing components with ACPs, have any side effects to our system and how the established processes work? Can these attribute change packages affect somehow the system if they do a change on already existing attributes of those components that are already in place and working?

Please help me understand what it really means to install an ACP that upgrades the existing components.

Thanks,

Sashko.

Dear Sashko,

please check this article of the official SAP Upgrade & Update WIKI: https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/x/xwNmG

This article explains the ACP and its need.

Cheers,
Andreas

Thanks for the comment Andreas, but please if you can, address my question more directly. In a hypothetic scenario that we need to implement the ACP as described in the image below, what will this ACP add on installation mean for our system:

Will these attribute changes affect in any way the already existing modules and configuration that the component brings to our system? Or more generally how does it affect the customized configuration already in place?

Thanks,

Sashko.

Hi Sashko,

an ACP only adapts some internal control tables in order to update the implementation attributes. There are no changes to your customizing or something else.

An example: You implement add-on ABC in version 607 which is valid for EHP7. Now EHP8 is released and the same add-on version is also valid for this release. So an ACP will be released which will be included into the upgrade to EHP8 in order to make your system clear that this add-on is still valid for the new release.

Best,
Andreas

When you say internal table, does that mean internal tables in some ABAP programs or SAP standard tables? Also can you tell me where in the system can I find these attributes: NEED_SPAM_LEVEL, LANGUAGE etc. ?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Sashko,

for security reasons I will not tell table names here. Please check the expanded attributes in the launchpad.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best,
Andreas
