Hi,

For a butchery, we do a goods receipt of article A but sell article B. For example, we do the goods receipt of the beef front quarter, and do goods issue of the individual rib steaks. Unnecesary to say that the stock position will be out of sync completely.

But I look for a simple solution. Where can I find a simple best practice?

Thanks

Not sure if this helps or not:

I believe what you are looking for might be a process of backflushing. Where the system automatically does the consumption of the input(s), i.e. the quarters.

But you need a PP specialist for that.

Hi Dirk

Why don't you use concept of Retail Display set? You can set Article A as Display set header and link B as its component.

This will keep your inventory inline as well.

Upon GR of article A, it will break down into component B and actual stock will increase for item B in inventory. On GI this stock of article B will reduce in inventory. Please refer concept of Structured article for more details.

Thanks

Vibhor.

Your scenario of goods receipt in one unit of measure and goods issue in another unit of measure fits very well in a standard scenario, I would recommend leveraging Logistics Variants the link of which is here:

https://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_08/helpdata/en/b2/a8c7536e8e2a4be10000000a174cb4/frameset.htm

You can create different article master variants as logistical variants, which allows you to retain the inventory levels at the different variant levels, and when you sell the goods you can have a different unit of measure. You will need to create a characteristic using table t006 and have the characteristic profile revelancy indicator set to 3 Logistical Variant and you can create variant articles associated to each variation of the product you are attempting to sell.
