Dual stack split and java stack higher than abap stack

Hi All,

Since java stack on NW70 will end of support by 31 Dec 2017, we want to perform dual stack split.

After perform dual stack split completed, is it possible to upgrade only java stack version? So, the ABAP and Java stack not same version, the Java stack will higher than ABAP version.

What the risk if ABAP and Java not on the same version?

Please kindly share your though.

Thank you

Hi Edy,

Now that you will have split your dual-stack into two single-stack systems, no, there is no absolute requirement for your ABAP and Java systems to be on the same release. What matters is what applications you run on the Java system that talk to the backend ABAP system. For instance, if you use Portal or Fiori apps, they need to be compatible with your backend ABAP release as well as the Java system they run on. For that, you'll need to carefully look through the PAM and the Release Notes for your Java applications.

Cheers,
Matt
