Modify / Translate Web Dynpro ESS iViews

Former Member

I have to make some changes in the standard Webdynpro ESS iViews, like text labels and translations to Portuguese by SAP.

How do I do that for all the webdynpro ESS applications?

Where does SAP store the field names, the messages, etc. for each application.... Is there any guides for translating ESS.... I have been looking but have found little.

Some suggest downloading PAR files, which I know it is not possible for Web Dynpro.

Should I use NWDI?

Can someone give me some tutorial, weblog, ...?

Thanks a lot

Antonio

Hi

For change the language of ESS iViews please check this <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a4/76bd3b57743b09e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm">Translation</a>

Pls check <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/3467">Link</a> thread for configuartion of ESS.

Also check sap note 872892. It contains the NWDI cookbook for customising ESS/MSS iveiws in NWDS.

Hope atleast some of your questions have been answered.

Thanks & regards

Arun, thanks for your answers.

Yet I have some specific questions:

1 - Translation Worklist doesn't work for web dynpro content. I guess it only translates the iview title/name. Hence, to translate web dynpro ESS iviews, I must do it using NWDI. Do you confirm this or is there another procedure?

2 - I read in NWDI cookbook that one of its pre-requisites is the usage of XSS SP3 (the first SP level for which customer modifications are possible). Can you tell me where I can check my SP level?

3 - I haven't got any "Track Data" tab or "CMS Landscape Configurator" in my NWA admin website.. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot

Hi Antonio,

1) The standard SAP iviews are already been translated and it will support any browser language. So you can select the language of preference from the browser or from the personalise link in the masthead. To select the language of your preference.

2) For check the XSS or ESS SP level of Enterprise Portal

http://<ServerName>:<Port Number>/sap/monitoring/ComponentInfo

3) Please go through the weblog since it will help you in relating with the things given in NWDI Cookbook. <a href="https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/pub/wlg/4592">Track</a>

Thanks & regards
