Hi all.
Currently, when we run deltas the values coming to us are the current values for the records, not the delta values. For example, if our value of $200 decreases by $50 since the last delta then I would want to see -50...instead I see $150. So each delta record would replace the previous one with the current value. This makes history tracking impossible.
Is there some way to have delta values extracted into BW or at least end up on the cube?
We are on BW 3.5 using the CMS module.
Thanks.
So is there something I can do to have the datasource send the correct delta values, instead of the new value? Or is there any good documentation on how to manage time dependent data?

Hi Jeff,
that pretty much depends on your extractor. Is it a standard one the answer is: it works as designed. Is it a custom defined one, you need to build your extractor using a function module that reads your application tables as well as the change documents to build your real delta.

This datasource particular apparently only sends new value, with the overwrite key figure you fill this information in ODS and then you pass the information to infocube..... ODS can manage all kinds of delta ina standard way you dont have to do anything...i think that the data is correctly passed to Infocube.....to do this you do not need to configure anything more.....
If you have the requirement to maintain a historically tracking of all values for other reason you can manage time dependent or version dependent data......
I hope this helps you

Hi Jeff,
this looks like your extractor does not deliver a real delta (the change or a before/after image). So to get the correct value in BW you have to post the data to a ODS first with update mode overwrite for the keyfigure. If this is the case, you can track the changes via the change log of the ODS.
