Wrong report instance

when 9 recurring scheduled reports ran this morning they all emailed the same incorrect report instance to their destinations. The report instance shown in the history screens for these reports and on the emails was from a totally different report that had not run since 2015.

Other reports this morning ran correctly.

All 9 reports ran perfectly last month, following an upgrade from 3.1 to 4.2 SP3.

How can I check to see if the correct report instances actually exist in the filestore, and how can I be sure this won't happen again?

running the schedules manually later today has produced the correct output so far
