Hi ALL,
I am installing SAP 4.70 IDES on Win 2000 Advance server sp4, oracle 8.1.7.0. I have installed oracle, patch and jdk and sap inst gui started. I have selected a fix ip address 192.168.100.2 to loopback adapter and i set binding order accordingly and i have included a line after 127.0.0.1 local host with the above <192.168.100.2> <ary> <SAPTRANSHOST>. I have selected 4.7 for oracle and it was o.k till that point. After that it is giving following error
YOU ENTERED : ARY
This computer name is ary but a reverse loopback adapter returned ARY. . This will lead to problems later on starting web as applications server. You can correct this problem by inserting a line 192.168.100.2 into the host files.
But i have already inserted before. i did twice and resarted but no use and also i did same senario with NIC card but no use. it was not going beyond that step.
I will appreciate and thanks inadvance for any reply
Hi,
1)go to hosts file in
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
2) open the host file with notepad and enter the detail manually like this.
192.168.100.2 ary
3) save it
4) in default or instance profile set SAPTRANSHOST = ary.
this will work. pls award points if helpful.
Regards,
Phani

Hi Phani,
Thanks for the reply. i have added and saved line already in the host files before as i said according to inst guide and as u said, but i was ended up with the error and not allowed to go beyond that by inst GUI. Would you mind explaining me more about this line bcoz i have given fixed lP address to loopback adapter and i have added and saved that in host file. After this error i have also repeated same scenario with NIC card by giving another fixed IP address and adding line in host files but i was not getting through and getting same error. How i add in instance profile without installing SAP. Do we need to give fixed IP address to loop back adapter or to NIC card?? bcoz i have done seperately both didn't work??
hi,
first suggestion is SAP 4.7 work on oracle9i
i think ARy or ary make no diffrence
