Hey Guys,

i had an understanding question to SAP BO SSL Config (Admin Guide 8.13.2)

We also had generated an Certificat for our BO Server (ServerCert) which is signed by an official CA and together with the private.key we use the .PFX file for Tomcat config. (Server.xml). Therefor we had generated an certificate request and signed them by a CA.

It works fine and Tomcat runs on HTTPS without any problem.

Now I would like to secure the CMS also and activate the SSL protocol in SIA. In admin guid chapter 8.13.2 the config is described but I’am not sure if all the steps are required.

I understand that we had to export the servercert, cacert and the private.key out of the PFX.

But the steps starting in point 3 (create index and serial), also the steps in point 5 create a certificate request and private key? If I understand a pfx correct then we also had the private key and we also had the certificate which is created in special for our server and signed by a CA.

I tried to directly use the exported .key file out of the pfx we get an error, if we remove the passphrase then the servers starts without any problem.

Is it correct if I say that the necessary steps are:

  • -Export certs and private key out of pfx.
  • -Remove passphrase from key
  • -Config in SIA and restart the system?

Is there somebody with the same question?
