Hello, In Design studio 1.6, do we have the availability of having component level security?

say, I have 6 different charts(components) in the dashboard and the data source is from Universes. And if there are 5 different user profiles each have their own datasets set at Univ level. And, if a user is intend to see only 2 components then the dashboard should show those two and rest 3 should not display.

Thanks!

Hi Vishal,

You can also consider the Identity Controller which is part of the APOS Data Gateway extension for Design Studio. This allows you to access a list of the BusinessObjects security Groups assigned to the logged in user and thereby control what elements are visible based on assigned security group.

Regards,

Mustafa.

Interesting - I hadn't thought of that. I don't think it does this today; on the BW side it relies on BW authorizations. There is a similar idea under review at Idea Place - see

- I encourage you to go vote on that, and add your feedback.

Okay, but through scripting cant we achieve?

Say, if there is no data to display on the chart for a particular user and through DS(data source) not initialized or data not displayed to a component scripting, cant we hide the component?

Thanks,

Vishal

Yes, and there was an ASUG presentation on this; however I can't seem to locate it. It was based on a BW data source.
