Loading from one infoobject to another

I am trying to load one infoobject from another. I do not want to create a reference. So I am doing the export data source method. For this I went to the infosource containing the original infoobject and selected "create export data source". But I do not see this in RSA5. Should I edit the infoobject and select "chracteristic is export data source" for this to work? Thanks

You are right when creating the export datasource by right clicking on the infosource of the infoobject. The generated export datasource tech name will be something like 8ZBPARTNERM (8infoobjectM/H/T). You should see this in the infosources tab of RSA1 (RSA12). If you dont find it, then do a CNTRL + F3 in RSA1 which will display the generated objects. Hope this helps.

Hi Uday,

No need to do that, but please try to check in RSA6, not RSA5.

Ok, I see two there. The names are 8infoobject followed by a T and H. Is this right? After this, do I need to include the characteristic as a datatarget under infoproviders or can I directly do the tranfer mappings and load it?

Hi Uday,

You will need to make the other char as a data target (in RSD1) and then you can create the data flow channel (transfer and update rules etc) as you would normally do for other objects.

Hope this helps...

If your info object has master data, texts and hierarchy then there will be three export datasources created (M for master data, T for text and H for hierarchy). You have to make the target infoobejct as data target (when you check this option you will see this IO in RSA1 under infoproviders). Then create a infosource and assign this 8IOT datasource to this infosource. Then create update rules between this infosource and the target infoobject. Hope this helps.

T is for Text and H is for hierarchy. Either way it should work for you.

I did that, but when I go to the infosource and try to assign the datasource, I see only the H and not the T. I can see the T in RSA6. Why is this? Am I missing any other step?

Hi Uday,

Did you replicate the datasources?

Go to RSA14 (source systems) -> Choose your BW system ->Find the T data source and see if its already assigned to any other infsource. FYI, you can assign a datasource to only one infosource. So if your T data source is already assigned to an infosource, then you will not find it when you try to assign from the transfer structure. Hope this helps.

So if you need this datasource, then unassign it from the previous infosource and then try to assign it to the new daatasource.

Yes, that was the problem. It was assigned to another one. Apparently, the datasource was generated even before I did it and was used. I got it now. Thanks all.
