How to link Service Notification and Sales Document Item

According to the picture, I enter in the <Sales Doc.> field the sale document item. Nevertheless, a warning is thrown stating that the Sales document XXXXXXXXX is not a maintenance contract (Message number IX058).

Even it is allowed to enter a sales document item; the warning says that it wants a contract document.

Can I change the setting to avowing the pop-up warning or is there another place where I could enter the sale document item to link the service notification without problems?

Thank in advance

Ruben

If you do "where used" for the message you'll see it's not configurable. Long text for the message says: "You have entered a sales document item which is not a maintenance order. Service orders, however, should be assigned primarily to maintenance orders and not to other sales documents. The system will issue a warning accordingly."

Why do you want to enter another sales document there? And what are you going to do with that information? What's the business requirement?

Search google with "SAP IX058" - there are quite a few old posts..

We are using production orders instead of PM orders. In other words, repairs are being treated similarly to the produced items. This flow is deployed time ago and it is working. Some issues are arising surrounding item prices but it is not a problem. It works for our business area.

Conversely, we want to attach some documents to each items. Firstly, I thought about re-structure the flow according to CS. However, by the complexity of refactoring the whole process we think about just connecting the service notifications to sales document items as shown in the image.

Is there a simpler way to link notifications to items via customization that allows print documents and shows statistics?

Thank you

Ruben

What statistics? And why do you need to print one document from the other?

Your diagram is a bit confusing but when SO is created from a QM notification I believe the notification appears in the SO document flow and SO appears in the notification document flow. I'm not sure about the service notifications as we're not using those. And it seems a bit odd that you'd use it when there is actual manufacturing involved.

When the documents are linked in the document flow then it can be used for reporting purposes. Document flow, however, does not add any functionality, it just allows to navigate from one document to another. If you want to print something you'd still would have to use output functionality for each document individually in the respective transaction. (This works the same way within SD, for example.)

For anything else you'd need loads of ABAP, I believe.
