A business service is a abstract entity. The major difference is that a Bus. sys will have a SLD entry while a Bus. service will not.

Also in case of a Bus. serv. you would have to manually add the inbound or outbound interfaces involved.

    • Hi,

In the case of a Business Service, you will add the Message Interface manually. You need to double click on the business servicei n Integration Directory and then add the Inbound and Outbound Message Interfaces.

In the case of a Business System , as the Business System is associated with a SWCV while creating the business system / technical system, you need not add / assign the message interface manually in the integration directory.

Business Services (along with Parties), ideally, are used in B2B scenarios where the landscape of the external partner is unknown - so you can't put details about the hostname, etc. about the system in you SLD. Technically, as far as routing is concerned, it serves the same functionality as Business System or Integration Process - these can all be logical senders or receivers of a message.

    hope this helps.

    Hi ,

Basically business service will be used only for published services and not those which have a physical landscape set up. If there is a physical landscape available then we go for business systems. You can use business service without having details of SLD as well.
