    Hi Tanveer,

In the case of OS/DB migration it is more of a technical stuff, rather than functional. The testing will be a big job from your prespective. there are many overview documents and FAQ are available on http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration whcih will be of your use.

Hope this will help you, do revert if you need any more info.

    Best Regards,

    Sachin.

To summarize the OSDBMIGRATION quicklink, you need a Migration Certified consultant. Most of the hardware vendors have them on staff, as well as SAP. A lot of the smaller consulting organizations don't have them.

The migration is purely technical -- the tools the migration consultant uses are designed to unload the data as quickly as possible and migrate it to the new system with minimal downtime. I've heard of multi-terabyte databases being migrated with just a few hours of downtime....but you will always have downtime involved in a move of this type.

From the functional side, you really shouldn't need to test anything unless it eases your mind. You might get in and check some critical functionality for your business, but basically the system is either going to come up or not. I normally request functional signoff on a system I've moved just to be safe.
