Crystal crashes when creating horizontal guidelines

I posted this back in 2011 but it didn't garner much attention or response:

https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/1879203

I'm an avid user of guidelines and have been since I started writing reports.

There is an issue with horizontal guidelines in particular in where crystal will crash if you double click too fast on the vertical ruler.

You would typically just click once to create a horizontal guideline but sometimes your fingers get antsy and you accidently double click.

This is pretty frustrating, to say the least. Would love to see this get fixed... @Don Williams

Not that it matters but I'm using version 14.1.9.2256.

    Hi Philip,

I still cannot duplicate the issue and I've never heard of anyone else having this problem.

What OS are you using? Is it the same one you used back then?

What Anti-virus software are you suing and is it the same as back then?

What other software is running when you do this? Try closing everything.

Go to MS's web site and download debugdiag.

Run it and create a rule for a crash and set it to crw32.exe and then make it crash.

Once the dump file has been created then Analyze it and see what it says. Attach if you can or paste the text into this post. If I need more info or the dump file I'll send you a link.

    Don

    Hi Don,

I'm on Windows 10 currently (64 bit). I'm not sure what I was using back in 2011, maybe Windows 7.

We do run Symantec Endpoint protection. Not sure if that's what we were running 6 years ago but its possible.

I can do a fresh restart of my system and it still happens. I can also reproduce this issue on many different machines.

I pretty much check for its existence on any machine I touch that has crystal and I've worked on a lot of different machines that have crystal.

This makes me believe it is a bug in the application itself independent of any outside factors.

If you tried to reproduce the issue on a blank report that doesn't always cause it to crash. Try it with a report that you've made.

I'll download debugdiag and give that a try.
