I am wondering what the possible drawbacks are if I delete the PSA requests right after the data has been successfully loaded up into the cubes and master data objects.
Is it advisable to keep data in the PSA longer? Should I make a distinction between master and transactional data?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this,
Dennis
For master data, we find that there is no use for the PSA at all. Once we ascertain that the master data loads are working, there is no reason to load any master data using the PSA; we do direct loads.
For transaction data, it is advisable to keep data in the PSA for a period of time, just in case.
If you delete the PSA data right away, there is no easy way to "Reconstruct" a load. In other words, if you execute a delta load into a data provider, and there is a problem with the data, you could delete the request from the cube/ODS, maintain the data in the PSA, and reload the same request from the Reconstruct tab on the data provider.
Hope this helps.
