in file to file scenerio, when the file will be passsed from source to destination.
while we finished configuration part and activate it.
then, the flatfile file which i specified should be in application or presentation server .give the detail about the path to be specified?
thx in advance.
Hi,
It sud be in application server where the port to the server is open and is accessible to the SAP XI. Then only XI can pick the file and process it.
You u must be giving the server name (or IP) during file adapter configuration.
Hope this helps.

File could reside any where but it should be accessible from XI app/integration server. If the file is in app server then you can use File protocol. But if the file is on some other server, then you need to specify protocol as FTP. In both cases Integration/app server should be able to access that server where the file is residing.

Hi,

For File to File , option 2 is ok.
WHenever you want to deal with R./3 scenarios like IDoc, RFC etc, then you need to import the metadata from the R/3 and use it. Then you need to have option1 selected.
btw, if you choose option, there is nothing harm. Just provide the client etc of R/3 server there.
Rgds,
Moorthy
Actually both of these options are fine.
You need not worry in case of File to file scenario.
But I would suggest you choose option 1. This is because it adds flexibility to you, just in case later on you want to try SAP to File or vice versa.
However even if you don't have any such plans its not going to affect your File 2 File scenario.
Also you need provide any extra details yet.Only when you start working on something like SAP to File , then you may have to add some properties

Bipin
