BPS doubts

Hi,

I am new to BPS and have following doubts, please can anyone explain me all with a simple relevant example:

1> what is the use of adhoc package

2> i have a basic cube and transactional cube. both are assigned to a planning area. i copied data into planning are of trans cube and saved it. now this data is in trans cube but it is not active. do i have to manually activate it if i need to do reporting on it.

3> how can i view data of a planning area. i want to view data for all versions i have, i created i a manual planning function in which i put kf in data col, and i version in lead but it shows some strange result just 2-3 rows of result, also when i put version in data col still the same result. is it possible to have data as we have in a BW query using a manual planning function. please can anyone provide me steps/settings for the case i described.

4> what is the relevance of valuetype with respect to BPS.

Thank you,

sam

    Hi Sam,

1> what is the use of adhoc package

If you need only one package below your structure, then you use directly the adhoc package. However, if you need to enhance the selection with different values, then you create different packages below the same structure. The structure will contain the common selection. Remember that the variables exist only in the structure.

2> if i need to do reporting on it

In the BexQuery Designer, you can use a standard variable below the request id (package dimension). There you choose 'Most recent data'. No need to activate the data to report on them.

3> just 2-3 rows of result

I believe there is an aggregation because you are missing some columns with another characteristics. Please add some other columns and try again.

    Regards

    Hi

    About your third doubt

you can simply see all your planned data creating a Bex Control Query on your transactional infocube.(RRMX) These queries are normally used in BPS project to control the budget data in BW.

    Hope it helè
