Datasource Providers listed under OLE DB (ADO) connection type are missing

I have installed Crystal Reports 2016 and all updates/service packs when trying to connect to my report, that is functioning just fine with the same version of Crystal Reports on a different machine, it does not allow me to sign into my sql database, it asks to pick the connection provider.

In the providers list it is completely blank with no options.

I am needing the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL server option, but have not found any way to get it into that list.

I'm assuming that I need to install some sort of driver for this, but do not know why it is not in there. SQL Server is installed on the machine as well.

Thanks for the answers, I tried to install the SQL Native Client and did not see any results, after checking into a few more things I decided to create a new Windows user, after signing into that it worked just fine.

I'm guessing something was blown up on that old user.

From the MS SQL Server install CD/source run it under the local PC admin account and select Client install.

Now you should see it listed in CR Designer, use the MS SQL Native 10/11 driver.

What version of SQL Server are you using? What version of Windows? What version of Office, (32 or 64 bit)?

Crystal is 32 bit so you will need to make sure you have the 32 bit SQL Server client installed as well.

If you have Microsoft Excel, check what OLE DB providers installed on the machine:

1. Start Excel

2. Click Data tab

3. From Other Sources button > From Data Connection Wizard4. Select Other/Advanced > Next

It should show you the list of available Providers.

After running that from excel I got a message box that said, "No provider matching the filter criteria is registered."cp-error.png
