Define Transport Target

Former Member

Hi,

I want to export my szenarios from development to my productiv system. Therfore I need to define transport targets like here. The problem is that I have different SLDs. Is it correct that I can only define transport targets within one SLD?

In development system I can't select my productiv integration server. Do I have to define it also in my development environment??

How to tranport from one to antother directory with different SLDs?

Thanks

chris

Hi,

@Sravya Talanki

I feel sorry, but your links didn't help me, because it ist just for CMS transporting. But I just want to do a flat file export/import

Problem is, that our DEV is XI7.0 and most blogs are based on XI3.0. For example I can't add/change a transport to my BS even I defined it.

regards

chris

yes transport targets are defined in single/one SLD. and sap recommends single SLD wherever possible.

hi,

Have u checked this blog?

/people/sap.india5/blog/2005/11/03/xi-software-logistics-1-sld-preparation

Yes I did, but couldn't understand following:

-What I have to create manual and what will be create automatically?

-Also how/where to use the data supplier bridge you create.

-Why you select "none" as target of BS BSt1 ?

-Your last sentence: "It's time to start XI Transports" don't help, because I didn't know where to start!

- Is it a problem if BS in both systems are named same?

-Where to find the GUID in XI 7.0?

You see I still have an understanding problem of how to use the transport target!

yes transport targets are defined in single/one SLD. and sap recommends single SLD wherever possible.

I know SAP recommends it, but our PRD systems is running within another enterprise so we have to use 2 SLDs. So it's not possible.

@vijaya

thanks for your link, but this is even for planing/config a new SLD. Our SLDs are in use. I just need to transport from one to another.

Hi,

Okay, so lets just assume that you are using a Master Slave option where you create all th eBS in one SLD and then transport the required one to the other SLD.

Lets take DEV as your Master SLD?

You will have your List of BS in the DEV SLD for the DEV system. Now create BS for you Qaulity/Production system in the DEV SLD for PROD BS system.

Maintain tansport Request for each BS from DEV to PROD.

Once you are done with this. See the PDF for transportation and dot he complete transport.

Hope this helps.

You will have your List of BS in the DEV SLD for the DEV system. Now create BS for you Qaulity/Production system in the DEV SLD for PROD BS system.

You mean I have to define one BS twice in my DEV SLD?? For example I have in DEV SLD following:

BS_TEST_DEV

now I create in DEV SLD a second one:

BS_TEST_PRD

and create a transport between those??

Is this what you mean? Why I have to do this??

hi,

No, you will have a sender and destination systems different for your dev and prod?

suppose you have SAP system dev123 with client 100 . For production you might have SAP system prod123 client 100. So you have to create BS for the produiction client.

and then in the dev BS configure the transport target system as BS_PROD.

Hi,

of course I have to create one technical system for dev and one for prod. But when I do this in the SLD for my dev, I have to do the same in the SLD for my prod, correct?

Then I'm able to to create a transport target in my SLD for my dev. After this I'm able to export my dev directory and import it into my prod???

What the use of data supllier bridge in this case?

thx

Christian,

Data Supplier Bridge is used to pass information from one SLD to another.

From SAP help,

In the SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD), besides component information, information about the current system landscape is stored as well. To get this information, a data collection process is required in each system in the landscape. This process is managed by the data supplier administration. The data suppliers collect not only data about the SAP system (SAP products, database parameters, hosts, clients, and so on), but also data about any third-party products that are installed.

If you have a data supplier bridge configured, then the Details from your Dev to Prod can be sent across automatically. But, in your case as you are doing it manually, you will need to create the Tech and the Buss system of the dev in the prod as well and then create the transport targets for the same in the prodcution SLD.
