what is this on help.sap?

Hi all,

if you go to http://help.sap.com/saphelp_40b/helpdata/en/72/c1abe4546a11d182cc0000e829fbfe/frameset.htm you see two sections on most nodes: definition and selection criteria. What is the second one for, ie selection criteria?
