Transport completes OK - but table needs activation to see changes

Interesting issue on our CRM 5.0 - Kernel 7.00 system

We move a transport from DEV to QAS and it completes OK with return code = 0. When I look at the logs I can see that the updates/deletes/changes are applied at record level.

However after the transport the functional person can not see the change. The data is correct at OS level when we run sql to look at the file. When we use SE16 the data is also available. But when the functional consultant runs their transaction the data is not seen.

The table looks OK in SE11 and passes the check. The table is active. However when we activate the table again the data becomes available in the transaction.

We have at least 6 examples of this. I made sure we have the very latest TP & R3TRANS patches as well as every other latest kernel patch.

In previous releases we have never had to worry about manually activating tables after transports.

Anyone else come accross this problem?

thanks

Hi Matt,

yes, unfortunately this normal ...

SAP delivers NW 2004s mostly with "sendoff, exeoff" !

This is really RISKY and needs to be changed to "sendoff, exeauto" in a 2-tier environment and to "sendon, exeauto" in a 3-tier environment.

Then it should be solved

Hi all,

with the help of the IBM-SAP-Team in Walldorf we found out, that this problem is now solved in BS2005 SR2 - so for the future, it definetely makes sense to only use SR2 instead of the older SR1 (because of many other reasons as well).
