  • Once a sales order is created,we do not want to allow changes to a sales order line item once freight unit or freight order has been processed in TM.

Currently, the standard TM design is that a freight unit creates when a sales order is processed. From the freight unit the planner creates a Freight order. The freight order will not have a shipment or delivery at this time. The freight unit sends a proposal to ECC to create a delivery, and then from TM the freight order will create a shipment. Once any transportation planning has been initiated, it is important that none of the planning relevant fields be changed in the sales order. But call center agent do not know whether freight unit or Freight order is in process which are only available in TM & CSR agents do not have access to TM.

Due to the lack of this integration today, it’s costing our business in additional activities around transportation and, loss of time in additional efforts between CS and logistics for communication.

As this is a standard process on sales order, just wondering if there is any standard way to restrict the sales order changes after freight unit or freight order has been processed in TM Or is there any way to know the status of Fright unit/Fright order in ECC ? Is there anything we need to enable in ECC or TM side ? if this is integration is not available today, is SAP planning to cover this gap in future releases.

Please help us to provide some insight.

Hi Kumar,

SAP may not restrict it just based on the fact that planning is started. For your client, it may be a problem but in broader perspective it is about agility. Sales order dates/quantities may change even if initial FU planning is started and SAP TM can definitely handle those changes.

It's acceptable to stop changes in SO as soon as the delivery proposal is created from TM. But for your requirement of stop changes as soon as planning is started may need an enhancement in ECC side.

Hope this helps.
