BPP - Business Process Platform - 3rd Party Web Service Integration

Hi,

I 've searched the sdn up and down, but either very very detailed material or too plain marketing material.

Has anyone a document (preferably with some graphical overview, I've found the ESA glossary), which gives an overview and short explanation of the Business Process Platform including:

- what is the Application Platform?

- what is the technical Platform?

- what is the composition platform?

- where has netweaver gone?

- which components have these platforms and what are they for?

And a second question; can someone explain or has a medium to high level document which explains the steps that have to be performed, and which components are used in order to integrate a 3rd Party Web Service (XI, PIC Process...)

Thank you very much.

Hi Stefan,

Business Process Platform (BPP) is composed of Application Platform and Technology plaform. BPP details can be found over -> https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/2706. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]

Hence Application platform provides standardized Business Scenarios and Services in ESR (Enterprise Services Repository). While Technolgy platform is nothing but the Netweaver.

Services can be composed over the BPP. Hence any composition tool like the CAF (Composite Application Framework) which composes the services offered by BPP can be termed as the composition platform.

Also refer to e-learning -> https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/media/uuid/8fbd9122-0b01-0010-0c85-b173f... for more insights

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Gajendra.
