SAP Developer Instance

Former Member

As an IT professional I would like to experiment with SAP so that I can try out ideas and learn more about it. I have found that many vendors such as IBM and Oracle offer developer editions of their products for these purposes. Ideally I would like to run an SAP instance on my personal workstation to use as a sandbox for programming and evaluation. Does SAP offer a such a developer edition?

Yes, there are sneak preview editions available. Here is the link. If you want to practice ABAP development, then you want the download in the last column, the others are the java stack sneak previews.

Thanks for the link. These look like what I need. Unfortunately all of the downloads are for Microsoft platforms. Are there any UNIX or Linux versions?

Ah...... not for download from here. You can order from the SAP shop.

Go to http://www.sap.com/company/shop/index.epx

Click Knowledge Shop

In the search box, type "50077574".

The result will show, add this to shopping cart and checkout.

It will arrive in a couple of weeks.

Odd, I don't have any problems.

The menu path is SDN ==> Downloads ==> Web AS ==> technology Preview SAP NetWeaver 04 - SAP Web Application Server on Linux. The link is working for me today. SAP must have been working on the SDN site. Thanks.

Hi,

Please try

ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sdn/devkits/netweaver/linux/

if you prefer the "old fashioned" way

bye

This FTP site is great. I do prefer the "old fashioned" way as the auto-resume feature of ncFTP and other good FTP clients makes downloading large files much easier. I was navigating around /pub and found all sorts of helpful things. Thanks for posting this.
