Several independent SAP ECCs on the same Windows Host

Hello,

Is it possible to install and manage completely independent SAP ECC Systems (with different SIDs, etc...) on the same host (Windows Server 2003) ?

If not, is this possible by partitionning the host (virtual machines) ?

Are there other solutions using only one host, or must I install other hosts ?

Kind regards.

      Hi David,

With respect to DIR_TRANS, you can set that to whatever you want, as long as it is reachable, i.e, witin the structure reference by SAPGLOBALHOST. I have several SAP instances on a single server and my DIR_TRANS is pointing to \sapmnt\<SID>\trans. Just keep in mind that after you make such a change you will need to:

      1. Review all profile files

      2. Shutdown and restart the instance

      3. Run STMS to redo the transport settings and make sure it refers to the new location.

      4. Redistribute tour transport settings.

      5. Shutdown and restart the instance again.

Also keep in mind that certain environment variable are set for each instance, thus if you are restarting a particular instance you should be logged in as <SID>adm
