Web IDE for Hana vs Web based workbench

Dear Experts,

we installed s4 1610, and from eclipse(hana studio), i can open below ide.

this is the web based workbench, not the web ide for hana.

in s4 1511, i also saw this workbench.

does that meanit serves as the web based ide for XS? but for XSA, it is replaced by web ide for hana?

and 'web based workbench' and 'web ide for hana' are both designed to replace hana studio?

hana studio -> web based workbench(XS) -> web ide for hana(XSA)?

and in 1610, it supports both XS and XSA, as a result, the 'web based workbench' and 'web ide for hana' are running in parallel?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Li

Yes you got it right the evolution of the development environment for HANA development is as you described

hana studio -> web based workbench(XS) -> web ide for hana(XSA). Web IDE for HANA was introduced in SPS11 together with XSA and designed to replace both HANA studio and the web based workbench.

HANA Studio and the web based workbench are development environments for XS Classic while Web IDE for HANA is for XS Advanced.

Since XSC is still available in latest HANA releases you can still use studio and workbench but only for developing XSC based applications, though the recommended development model going forward is the XSA one.

    Hope this helps.
