Hi,
We are trying to maintain basic PA details in SAP for interfacing out to an outsourced Japanese payroll.
Issue we are having is that there are mandatory name fields on Personal details that require Katakana characters. These get stored on IT3387.
We are not in a position to use these characters so we tried via standard configuration (T588M) to make these fields optional and when this did not make a difference, to use a different country version of the IT0002 screen but that did not work either, in that the Japanese version of the screen is still displayed.
Is it possible as standard to disable the Katakana check ?
Anybody else encounter this issue and can you suggest a approach to resolve?
Cheers

OK
re-applied manual steps relating to table V_T588M as per note 2175147 (applied to our system via a HRSP) and the problem went away !
sounds strange but there you go.
