Hi DS Experts,
I'm working on a dashboard where a lot of values will be filtered using dropdown menus (in some cases, over 10,000 values), and am wondering if there's a way to begin typing in the dropdown area, and have it autocomplete based on the values available in the dropdown?
I'm working on DS 1.6, SP4.
Thanks,
David

Thanks Mustafa,
I had investigated this option, but it does not fit the requirement. We're looking for a dropdown/search box component that can be used on a page (not a pop-up), and will suggest answers as a user is typing - suggestions populating below the search area such that it looks like a dropdown.
I'll keep looking, but will suggest you're solution to the powers that be!
Cheers,
David
Hi David,
In that case, unfortunately the requirement you have described cannot be met by any of the standard Design Studio components. I would further venture to guess that it is unlikely such a component will be introduced as standard anytime soon, so the closest option you have is the Dimension Filter.
Out of curiosity, I'd be interested to know a little more about the application you're developing. 10,000 items is an awful lot of for a dashboard filter. It sounds like you are developing more of a transactional reporting application for that kind of volume. Is it not possible to reduce the list values to more manageable sizes by implementing cascading dropdown filters such that you would not need search boxes?
Regards,
Mustafa.
Hi Tammy,
Thanks for the quick response! So there's no way to do this in Design Studio without purchasing an extension or developing my own..?

Hi David - I attended a Visual BI webcast this week; Visual BI has already developed an add-on for a search box - see http://cdn.visualbi.com/wp-content/uploads/visualbi-extensions-for-sap-businessobjects-design-studio... page 440. It might be worth asking for a free trial, rather than you developing it yourself. Others may have already developed this too - please see https://analytics-extensions.enter.sap for the extension directory
