DB Connect in BW/4 HANA

Hi All,

DB connect option is not available in BW/4 HANA system. You may refer below screenshot. So how can I bring data from other databases such as ORACLE, MSSQL etc. into BW/4 HANA system.

Regards

Jagan

    Hi Jagan,

I'm not familiar with BW/4HANA, but with HANA Smart Data Access, you can access almost all of the commercial database products, including Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB2, Sysbase, even Hadoop Hive. You can map the source databae table as a virtual table inside HANA schema, I guess that's why you see the option HANA_SDA in the screenshot.

For how to configure the Smart Data Access, please check the relevant guide at

    http://help.sap.com/hana

Basically, you'll need to install unixODBC and relevant odbc client driver on the HANA box, then perform the configuration.

    Hi Jagan,

Basically, you connect your external source to the Hana DB with SDI. Then, you can access to this data from BW with a SAP Hana SDA system source.

    Hi,

I would suggest the same. It is also faster to process the data from an External DB into HANA and then through OpenODSView in BW on HANA to load.

    Hi Jagan,

did you configure SDA on BW4 application layer (not in HANA db layer) to load data from external database?

    Thanks a lot
