Change a value of a table item - syntax help

hi,

I have input parameter to a BADI called VALUE(table). The output parameter is the same VALUE(TABLE)

and I want to set the value 1 in each of the rows of the column "digit". I do this the following way with field symbol (which seems to be the incorrect way of doing it):

LOOP AT table ASSIGNING <fs_table>

table-digit = '1'.

END LOOP

The problem is that the digit column of alll the rows are not set to 1 when I debug and look at the out parameter table. This is because probably the field symbol is not a pointer to the actual row in the table? But instead it copies each row in to the field symbol?

How can I set values to each of the rows?

regards
