Manage Inventory by Warehouse?

How do we change We have taken over supporting customers that need this capability but it was not set as the default setting in the initial installation. We have tried to change it at the item master record level, but while it shows as the box is checked on the item - it does not show the cost in the warehouse level at all (the column is not available).

We have tried to remove all open transactions referencing the item as well as all inventory and then setting it - but again the check box is set but the function is not working.

So what is the proper method for setting this function to work as it is supposed to?

And if the answer is a re-implementation - then it appears we will have to move them off SAP as
