Hi ,

When we right click ods we following ,

Generate Export data source

Maintain Export datasource

What is the difference between these two ?

There is also one called Classic info set ...

What is use of that ?

One doubt ,

I did these things only ( Didnt Generate or Export )

I loaded data to ODS . Then activated , Then ODS -> Right Click ( Update in Data target )

But info cube already had 80***** as update rule ...

What exactly happens internally When we use ' <b>Update in data target</b> ' From ods .

hi,

Its not that when you update to data target it is created . This is done already when you had created cube and its update rule... while creating update rules you choose option from infosorce / or from ODS. when you select the particular ODS name it automatically creates these update rules with the name of ODS data source(80***)

Just one confirmation ,

I havent done 'Generate Export data source ' or 'Maintain Export Data source '

Just activated ODS, Load Into data target .The cube also got filled from ODS .

So why do we need that 'Generate ' And ' Miantain '.

Kindly Explain ?

hi,

In case of ODS we need not explicitly generate expot datasource. But in case of cubes you need to do that So this option is available.

Hi Kumar,

It is actually starts with 8< ODS tach name> . If your ODS is staandard ODS it will be 80*** and if it is custom created it would be 8****

hi Kumar,

When you want to load dat to cube from ODS there has to b the datasource of this ODS. And to create this data source you can right click on ODS (or even cube can be used as export data source) and select Generate export data source.

This will automatically ceate the infosource with datasource of ODS and the naming convention used is 80<ODS technical name>

Thanks, I have read that link .

I have loaded data from 0FI_AR_1 into ODS . The data source is OFI_AR_1 . Then actaivated . The data came. The scheduler tab shows some selection conditions where 'Customer Nimber ' is not visible.

<b>In data source OFI_AR_I Customer number is notselection field , If i use OF_AR_1 , That is thatway data get loaded in ODS without customer number in selection .Data got loaded in ODS . ODS Is activated , When i try to update in data target form ODS , suddenly in ODS Scheduler now 'Customen Number ' Became selection field ?</b>

How this happens , Is data source changing ?

ODS update rule has data source OFI_1R_1 .

ODS Name is OFIAR_006

Cubes update rule shows name as 80FIAR_006 ====> ( Why 80******* )

The Data Source name is also OFIAR_006

Data Mart is a concept to update data from one data target into another.

Maintain export datasource _ will give you a screen in which you can chose which fields to display or hide in the data mat info object

Hi,

The export DataSources for InfoCubes and ODS objects includes an extract structure that contains all the characteristics and key figures of the data target. Export DataSources for master data contain the metadata for all attributes, texts and hierarchies for an InfoObject.

That means that the system now provides for you to load data from this cube to another object by creating an InfoPackage. You must be knowing that the way to load data is by assigning a datasource to an InfoSource, creating update rules from the InfoSource to the data target and then loading using the InfoPackage.

SO now here, the datasource is generated (export datasource), it is assigned to an InfoSource so you need to create update rules from this InfoSource to the required data target, and then create an InfoPackage and laod the data.
