Issue in ATP check of planned orders

Dear experts,

I have an issue in ATP check of planned order as given below

Component 1000001 has a stock of 1380.500 Kgs in unrestricted usage and no procurement proposals exists. This component is used in header material 1000002.

when we create first planned order 2116387 for header material 1000002 with requirement quantity of 1300 kgs, it gets confirmed as we have an open stock of 1380.5 kgs.

When the second planned order 2116388 for header material 1000002 is created with requirement quantity of 1000 kgs, now as per standard SAP it confirms the quantity based on the open stock of 1380.5 kgs. Here the business wants the system to propose the missing parts indicator for the planned order 2116388 as the previous planned order 2116387 will be consuming the open stock of 1300kgs and the planned order 2116388 should be with missing parts indicator and should not get confirmed as we have the balance quantity of only 80.5 kgs.

As per my knowledge this is standard SAP behavior as we dont have any reservation concept for planned order so system confirms the successive planned orders. Please let me know if it is possible to meet the requirements

Hi Naresh,

Thank you. but my client is a discrete manufacturing and they are using the concept of staging process for components. May be i can propose it. But they are looking for a direct solution in the ATP check level ie to modify the standard behavior. But i am not sure how it is possible. Please let me know your inputs

Hi Balakrishnan,

You are right. This is standard SAP behavior because only production orders are considered as promised receipts and not planned orders.

Even though if you want to fulfill your requirement then you can use Material Staging & Reservation Functionality in SAP. Use transaction MF60 to stage the material for the planned order and MF65 to reserve it for the planned order wherein movement type is 311.

You can follow the steps mentioned in document from below link. Instead of production order number, enter planned order number for reservation.
