Did you download the correct SWPM for your architecture? (ie: x86_64)

Compare from the commands:

uname -a
file </path/to/sapinstexe>

(just replace </path/to/sapinstexe> in the command with the actual full path to the sapinstexe executable)

the current swpm version matches for the x86_64

but maybe the one that I downloaded does not match the NetWeaver version.

the smpm I have now is for NW 7.0x higher.

maybe i should have downloaded swpm for NW 7.0 not higher...

this is my first time to be involved in sap , linux, installation and everything...

For Solman 7.2 the "NW 7.0x or higher" version should be fine.

Howere it is strange the the "file" test I suggested would show for sapinstexe that it is a data file. Could you attach a screenshot showing the output of both commands I wrote?

Thank you for reply.

I cannot porvide screen shot, as it includes company related information...

but basically it say:

uname -a

Linux host name 3.10.0-327.4.5.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Jan 21 04:10:29 EST 2016 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

file /basis/sapwork/swpm/sapinst

/basis/sapwork/swpm/sapinst: data

Could it have any relation with the thing that when I uploaded the media to server using WinSCP, i think i did not choose the uploading mode to binary...

Possibly, as sapinst should not be a "data" file but an executable. Transfer the whole SWPM SAR file to the ser ver with ftp binary mode, and extract it there.
