Update mode R not suported

Hi all,

We have an issue with 0MAT_SALES delta loads. The process chain has been failing for the past few days. The error that we encountered was "Update mode R is not supported by the extraction API".

I checked RSA7, there are no records in the delta queue. But this should not be a problem right.

So I tried to reinitialize the delta. I received the message "Deleting initializations affects ODS objects".

Should I proceed with the deletion of the previous initialization and reinit the delta again. Would this option affect any data in any of the ODS.

Could some one shed some light in this issue please.

Regards,

S.P

Hi Sumana,

You can proceed to do a reinit for the master data. Should be no problem, I have done this in several cases when we got the "Update mode R is not supported by the extraction API" message.

Hope this helps...

So should I ignore the message "Deleting initializations affects ODS objects" and proceed with my reinit.

yeah go ahead and re-intialize the delta, shouldn't be a problem with the master data.

Hi Just to add,

if your delta is load failed with zero records, then you can go ahead with initilization with out data transfer to save the time,, if that is failed with some records ,then you have to go for reinitilization only

Hi Mallikarjun,

I tried Delta Init without data transfer. And it worked.

The process chain is working just fine now.

Sudheer, thanks for the explanation. It was very informative.

Thank you all.

As suggested by Bhanu and Sri, I tested a reinit in our Q box. The load failed. I am now a little skeptical about trying this in our prod.

I will now try Mallikarjun's suggestion and see if it would fix my problem.

Will keep ya all posted.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Just as an FYI, if a master data delta load fails, you would have to do an re-init to proceed with the delta again. Master data extractors do not support R (Repeat Delta) mode unlike the transaction data extractors. So doing an init is the only way to fix the issue. Like Mallikarjun said, you can do a reinit (with data transfer) and if you are still concerned abt losing records, do a full load (since its a master data load, the records will be overwritten). Hope this helps.

    • This is because master data uses ALE Change pointer for delta's.
