Size of swap in Windows 2003

Hi,

do you know if in windows 2003 we've any limit of the swap file size ? I've read the limit is 4Gb, and if you need more swap, you should define severals files.

Thank's in advanced

Francesc

It depends on which Win 2003 Server release you are working on. The Enterprise Edition supports swap files much lager than the 4GB limit whereas the Standard Edition only supports 4GB.

If you are running the Enterprise Edition, you must edit the "boot.ini" file and append "/PAE" to the startup line. Reboot the server and you are good to go. I have set swap file sizes as larger as 36GB. The general rule of thumb is swap file size = 4GB + (3 * Physical RAM)

    Hi Francese,
