Copying BEx Queries from Production to Dev Issue

Hi there, we got several BEx queries directly created in BW Production system, given for business usage. Developers had been given the access to do so in production last year. Now we will have to copy them back to BW Dev system to make them consistent and do further changes. I am looking for what is the possible way to do that. We can't do the reverse transport, due to the reason that, according to internal policy, Production System can't be opened for Transports. There are around 500+ queries, how can we copy them back to Dev? Please assist.

    Hi Sreekanth,

We can't do the reverse transport, due to the reason that, according to internal policy, Production System can't be opened for Transports. <br>

So, internal policy forbid you to do a reverse transport but allows you to build a specific report that connects to the prod and creates BW standard objects. Something troubles me.

I've always done reverse transport for this kind of purpose (And negotiated it when it was not acceptable).

Note that the reverse transport can be done from a copy of the production (Pre-PRD or any system of this kind).

    Regards,

    Frederic

    Hi Sreekanth

For the query count (500+) , and no permissions for a reverse transport .Its better go for system copy which will be an error free method.

Please also go thru the below custom abap program to solve your issue :

    Thanks

    Hi,

As Yugandher mentioned, system copy is the best option. It's like you are refreshing your DEV to make it as copy of your PROD system.

Thank you both, there are many in-Pilot developments which are in Dev and not yet moved to production system. There is a significant risk in doing the system copy to Dev.

On other note, I will try the custom ABAP report to do this action, can you suggest me that, this program will take care M and A versions of the Queries in Dev system? because in the total of 500, around 200 of them are created in Dev moved to production and then modified directly in Production system.

I am just trying to make sure that, this process would not create any inconsistencies with 2 systems, Did anyone implemented this program?

Hello Frederic, Sorry for the late reply. I was out of city for 2 weeks. Actually we did the reverse transport from Quality, as described you. Thank you.
