NOT assigning components to operations in PM order

We would like to NOT assign components to operations in our plant maintenance orders. I understand that standard SAP includes the functionality to assign components to operations, (and we use this on the PP side) but we would like to remove this functionality on the plant maintenance orders. Our PM group needs to be able to issue any component on the list at any time during the maintenance order.

Is this possible? Possibly by order type?

Aaron,

You could try using the basic order view in config and hide the Components tab. But you'd also ned to deactivate the Components sub-tab on the operationlevel.

You can always develop a solution to ensure components were never entered.

Thanks Peter,

We still would like the components and the components tab, we just would like them not be assigned to an operation. Basically, in IW42, we want to see a complete list of all the components for each operation, not just those assigned to that operation.

You may always issue any material as an unplanned Component to a PM Order in IW42 and that is issued to the Operation that you are confirming. So I am a bit confused about the particular requirement...?

What our PM crew would like to see: When in IW42, they choose the prod order, and operation. At this point they see the complete list of components from the order (not just those assigned to the specific operation). It would allow them to do their final confirmation on the operation and issue ANY of the components on the whole order they would like to. The requirement comes from certain repairs indeed have a list of components needed. But depending on the state of the machine, different componets can be used at totally different operations of the order.
