SAP Netweaver Application Server

Correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding is that SAP Netweaver Application Server can function as a Web Server. Do we still need other web server such as IIS or Apache to implement TREX? I'm implementing CRM 5.0 and SAP Netweaver 2004s. Thank you.

Hi,

You are correct that SAP Netweaver Application Server can work as a Web Server, but, as for the TREX, it requires IIS or Apache if you want to use TREX HTTP Server (may be needed for some CRM JAVA based applications depending on the scenario you are implementing),

Hi Mike,

Thank you for the clarification. I'm using crm_ic web client. Is it considered CRM Java Based application?

Actually, when I install IIS, my crm_ic page is not working. After I deinstall, it works. Therefore, I decided to use SAP Netweaver itself as my web server to serve TREX. Can this be done?

Mykhaylo is correct in stating that ISS or Apache is required for TREX. The TREX installation program will look for the presence of ISS or Apache and only proceed if it can find one of these. TREX creates some virtual directories in ISS or Apache and therefore is dependend upon them.

Oops, ofcourse I mean IIS not ISS as stated in my earlier response

Hi,

Your understanding is right. SAP Netweaver Application Server can function as Web Application Server. There is no need for a separate web server to install TREX. It can be installed on the same Web AS.
