Dear Experts,
I have read in many SAP documents that Additional fields can be added in "Import Data" app, for example below is excerpt from Administartion Guide vs 1702:
we do not find any option of adding extra fields in Data Import App, could you please let me know the possible reason? we are using version 1702.
Thanks,
Krish
Well, with this application it seems that you cannot make use of predefined fields like you do in Import Data section (which I cannot see and use despite all my effort). Predefined fields are not available and it just appends structures to includes of related business objects.
Moreover, you cannot choose data type NUMC in this app unfortunately. When you choose "NUMBER", it offers "DEC" as data type. You can control length before decimals and after decimals however you cannot control output length so the length turned out to be much more than you expect. You cannot edit the output length in SE11 either as they're created automatically via this app.
I was really excited to use this app and I used it to create some custom fields but had to delete all of them because of the reasons I explained in previous paragraph. I started over with transaction BOB and appended structures to business objects manually as it's explained in Extensibility Guide.
I do think this app really looks cool and quite user-friendly however it needs some more work so that we have control all over data types and their lengths...

Hi all,
the option to add predefined-fields using the Import Data UI is not available for cloud customers. Here you have to use the app "Custom Fields and Logic" already mentioned by Matthias.
For OnPremise, it depends on the release you have. Until 1611, there should be no limitation. For newer releases, the additional fields can only be maintained for entities that have already been enhanced before, to be backward-compatible. But you cannot enhance any new entity, for this you have to use "Custom Fields and Logic".
Best regards
Stefan

Hi Krish,
first step would be to use the "Custom Fields and Logic" app to create the custom fields.
The app is relatively new but should be available in an 1702 system (depending on the user role - think it requires an admin role).
With the app you create custom fields to extend ie. Contacts, Interactions, Campaigns etc..
Once you done this, the custom fields will show up in the downloaded CSV sample file you get from the "Import Data" app.
Best,
Matthias

Hello Matthias,
Thanks for your answer, yes I had a look earlier into this app and it throws always an error message! I have tried today and same error, do not have clue what to do. The "APS_CUSTOM_FIELD_MAINTENANCE_SRV" is Active and I have Admin role.
Step 1: Create an additional field:
2. Error message appears:
Do you know how to solve this error?

Krish
Hi Matthias,
Does your answer to Krish mean that old adding fields functionality is unavailable since 1702?
In 1611 yMKT we successfully used this method to expand the interaction contacts and interactions data model by adding labels to blank fields (TEXT20_1, DATE1, NUMBER1 etc.). We did it in our dev system only
But after upgrading all systems (dev, qas, prod) to 1702 I can add new fields only to interactions contacts and interactions in dev system only. So it seems that only objects expanded in 1611 can be expanded in 1702.
Hello Krish,
I'm facing same problem. I think I do have all required authorizations, yet still cannot see add fields section.
Since I cannot use here, I cannot use predefined fields on some business objects. Out of luck, I had to create those custom fields by appending structures to customer includes.
I wonder if there's any other way to make use of predefined fields other than here. Because I might need them in the future, too.

Hello Krish,
We are facing the same problem, did you manage to fix this. I have already added additional business admin roles but it still dosent seem to work.

Hi Krishnendu ,
It seems like you are looking at the documentation for the on-premise version. Can you check under the cloud version for similar documentation? if you cannot find it may be this is not supported.

Maybe you don't have an authorization to do that? On the right side of a screen you should have that option.
