How to secure Powerbuilder executables using code signing certificates?

Hi,

Looking for ways to secure our application executables . Our application is developed using Powebuilder version 12.5.1. Running on Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit OS.The executables are then deployed on different user workstations.

Is it possible for the Powerbuilder binaries exe, pbds, dlls to be signed with a code signing certificate? If so what are steps ?

Thanks,

Susan

    The only way to do it within the PowerBuilder IDE is to generate a .Net Winform application. If you go to the very bottom of the discussion, there is a comment that the Microsoft Sign Tool works. I have not tried it myself.

    • Thank you Roland.

      Did read about signtool there are mixed reviews on the utility. Looking for details from someone that has successfully used it. information including setup requirements on the development machine and the workstations where the application is run.

      Is there any other approach for securing files outside PB IDE ?

    Hi Roland;

    Note: The Winform feature has been removed in PB 2017.

      I just noticed that a few minutes ago. Is the PB.Net IDE completely dropped or will PB 2017 include an installed of the 12.6 version?
