Hi Experts
Currently we are installing SAP Solution Manager 4.0 in Single Server (Windows 2003/ MAXDB / Installation Services for a Central System). We completed Central system installation.
Please confirm either we want Java Addin for this above Installation?
Hi Kumar,
Thanks for your reply!
We are starting with the installation. I would want to know if we have to upgrade oracle to 10.2 before the installation since we run on Oracle 9.2 now.
We are on AIX 5.3 or does the sapinst ask for the oracle installation.
Can you advice on this and also what the proceeding steps would be.
Thanks in advance..

Hi Kumar,
Thank you , I already have the installation guide , I wanted to know if there is any checklist for this installation, what are the steps in installation, also can you let me know what the use of Prerequisite Checker is?
Thanks,
Jay.

Hi Sapjay,
The pre-requisite checker checks your system to see if meets the minimum requirement for the installation. I normally checks the Hostname, Domain COntroller, Swap size, Ram size, OS version, etc and throws a caution if something does not meet the requirement.
Moreover there is not checklist kind of a document for the installation. You can only have the installation guide which is the best source for the checklist you are asking. You can make a brief checklist from the inst guide.
Regards,
P. Kumaravel.
Ps: Award points for helpful answers.

Hi
We are having ECC5.0 with DEC, TEST and PROD servers.
We are in SAP environment since Oct 2005.
It is learnt that apart from help during implementation, the Solution Manager provides lot of tools for fast problem analysis and resolution. It also provides direct connection to SAP Support Back office.
As you have already implemented Solution Manager, I would like to know the advantages and features of Solution Manager 4.0
It would of great help if you please provide the details at the earliest.
Also let me know the precautions to be taken during the implementation.
Regards.
Hi all,
We were able to complete the Solution Manager 4.0 installation successfully.
The problem was that our server name exceeded 13 characters so we did the following:
1) Uninstall the complete SAP (as this is new installation) including SAP MaxDB installation.
2) Change the hostname in within 13 character
3) Add environment variable CPIC_MAX_CONV = 200
3) Update in Hostname file.
4) Update Swap file (paging file) size more than 10 GB (as recommeded by prerequisite in installation: you can go there by clicking sapinst in Master installation CD. Click on SAP Netweaver 2004s SR1 -> Additional Software Lifecycle Tasks -> Additional Preparation Tasks -> Prerequisites Check, this will give you in red if you dont meet any pre-requisites).
We restarted system in every above step.
Hope it helps to you too.

Hi,
It's based on the type of usage you want to have for your solman system.
Certain services will run only if you have Java stack viz.,
Solution Manager Diagnosis,
Few Support desk services and so.
If you do not want to use those functionalities then no need to install the java add-on.
Thanks in advance.
