index administration status

Hello all,

I have problems with my index administration status. Sometimes the status is green and sometimes red. But I do always the same things. I select all my indizes and click "reindex". After this process I select all indzes and click "incremental update". So, after that I go to Monitoring -> KM -> TREX -> queue status change and I let all indizes work out (in German it means "Abarbeiten" - I don't know if "work out" is the correct translation). The index monitor is OK and there are no errors.

The application protocol in systemconfig -> KM -> index administration shows also no errors!

If I go over the status icon I can see an error (something like a data source could not been correct indexed).

Why have I such problems? What is my mistake?

Kind regards and thanks in advance

Susa

Hi Bettina,

I dare say you're right. I did these things because sometimes it has the effect that the status of some indizes become green. Now all are red. What have I to do that all is OK and without any errors? Or is it never mind if some data sources are not correct indexed? My search is working fine in spite of the errors in index administration...

Kind regards,

Hi Sussane,

If your search is working fine for all docs in your repository, you should not worry

about status.Re-indexing should not be done everytime as you did,but once you upload new docs or items you need to do incremental update to include uploaded docs into search results.

Hope that clears the concept

Hi Susanne,

The indexes should be in green state; In the TREX monitor or in the TREX admin tool you can check in which state the queues are and in which state the documents. Most likely there are documents in failed states (Transmitting failed, preprocessing). You need to check what is wrong with these documents, (e.g. see error codes), There are some threads on failed states in queues. There can be a lot of reasons for this, your problem is too general to say more here.

best regards,

Bettina

Hi Rani,

I am sorry, but that is only partly right; you do not have to do an incremental if you add new documents to an index. The indexing or deindexing of documents is triggered event based.

Incremental updates are necessary if you have webrepositories, where no events are received if documents change.

Hi Bettina,

We are also facing same issue. Getting error like"

Queue::preprocessMsg: found wrong state to be transmitted for 01NA.." . We have checked from the backend but all the data's are seems to be fine except some special character's are in candidate Resume.  Do you have any idea about that error message ?.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Susanne,

It actually makes no sense to do a reindex and an incremental update at the same time. A reindex will delete and rebuild all your indexes. An incremental update requires exiting indexes and does not delete any. It can very well be that you run into trouble if you do these two tasks at the same time, they can block each other.

What were you aiming at?

hope it helps,

Bettina

Hi Susanne,

What exactly is your problem? Is your search working fine?

Dont worry much about status, due to old SP level it can show some Inconsistencies.

Whats your EP and TREX version?

Rani:

the versions of the components are:

SAP KM Rel. 7.00

Support Package 09 (currently updating to 10)

TREX 7.0.27

I found out that there are really inconsistencies in index administration. The time of the index start is sometimes right and in next moment, when I refresh, it is an hour earlier... It's confusing

Bettina:

I looked for document status in trex monitor and all documents are OK. It's sort of weird... As I said sometimes the status is green and sometimes not... But I recognized that I shouldn't start reindexing and after that incremental update. I started so only reindexing and at the moment all indizes are green..... I hope that it is also so when I add a document.

Kind regards,

Susa
