How can I know, whether my SAP uses MDMP ?

Hello together,

how can I know, whether my SAP uses MDMP?

There are different processes to upgrade to UNICODE. One for Systems which have MDMP and one for System which are not using MDMP.

The upgrade path for systems with MDMP is much more complicated than the upgrade path for non MDMP systems.

I found one transaction: smlt

There I can see that we have installed for example hungary and english.

Is this installation using MDMP?

If yes, can I deinstall this languages?

regards,

Carsten Schulz

    Hello Carsten,

you can check NLS and specially MDMP with reports RSCP0018 and RSCPINST, or have look at table TCPDB. If you fin mor than 1 entry in TCPDB your system is MDMP.

You can not deinstall a language, but you could omit a language for upgrade.

(if you do not need it any more?)

    Regards

    Guido

      Hi,

I cannot believe that it is showing you "single codepage" ....

My 4.7 MDMP system reacts as follows:

      RSCP0018:

      Database table

      Value Suppl.

      TCP0D

      EN Three blank spcs

Use language English precedent in the system

      TCPDB

      1100 SAP internal, like ISO 8859-1 (00697/00819)

1401 SAP internal, like ISO 8859-2

      1500 SAP-internal, like ISO 8859-5

      1700 SAP-internal, like ISO 8859-7 (Greek)

      1800 SAP-internal, like ISO 8859-8 (Hebrew)

      8000 Shift JIS

8400 Simplified Chinese (based on GB2312-EUC, MS CP936)

      More than one entry dangerous

      => clearly MDMP

RSCPINST shows the MDMP feature during SIMULATION:

      Code page configuration type:

      Non-Unicode - MDMP configuration

      Attention!

The required language combination is supported without restrictions

      only in Unicode systems.

Please refer to SAP Note 73606.

      Processed language entry:

RSCPINST will update TCP0I entry when activated.

      1BDEFGIJLPRSV

      Language(s) and Corresponding Code Page(s):

RSCPINST will update TCPDB entries when activated.

ZH (1) 8400 Simplified Chinese (based on GB2312-EUC, MS CP936)

      EN (E) 1100 SAP internal, like ISO 8859-1 (00697/00819)

      FR (F) 1100 SAP internal, like ISO 8859-1 (00697/00819)

      DE (D) 1100 SAP internal, like ISO 8859-1 (00697/00819)

      RU (R) 1500 SAP-internal, like ISO 8859-5

      ES (S) 1100 SAP internal, like ISO 8859-1 (00697/00819)

      SV (V) 1100 SAP internal, like ISO 8859-1 (00697/00819)

It doesn't matter: There is no further switch - it is just the amount of entries in TCPDB .... 1 is OK - more than 1 is MDMP ...
