Notify User if Webi report is down.

Hello All,

I want to do a bit automation in getting a notification whenever a Webi report is down. When I say down it means it would not run due to some error like change in universe or connection is changed etc So I should get email notification for this andIcan take action accordingly before business reports it.

Do we have a way to do it?

Regards

HI,

Did you tried scheduling those reports to yourself and apply notifications.

Whenever scheduling fails then you will get notification. that being said indirectly you will know which report is failed to execute and you can correct them before user runs.

Here are the steps in CMC:

  1. Create a new web Intelligence report.
  2. Schedule the report to run after 5 minutes . Set the notification to "Email notication when report fails to run".
  3. Also set the number of retries as 3 and give the time interval as 300 seconds .
  4. Disable the output file repository server.
  5. The report runs after 5 mins and fails. You will get a failed report notification Email.
  6. Go and enable the output file repository server.
  7. The report will rerun after 5 minutes and will be a success this time.
  8. If you check in History you will find no message that will say report failed at the first try.

Thanks,

Jothi

I will see if that works and then will close the thread.

The only way I can think of is to create a recurring schedule for the report and set a fail notification for your self. and set the limit of the schedule to one or two at the default location.
