Problem with data source location in Crystal Reports

We have a selection of reports that run automatically following various system actions in a third party system. This software writes the information to be reported on temporarily to an SQL table, every time a new report is needed the data is overwritten.

Recently I noticed the data in the reports was completely incorrect, however the data in the table is correct. I should add that the reports use a custom viewer program to display on screen when created. From this viewer I can open the report into crystal. If I do this, the data remains incorrect, however if I update the data source it then displays correctly.

I thought this had fixed it but if I save the report file replacing the original, the same issue reoccurs.

I have created a brand new report using a new data source and named this file the same and that works fine. The problem is I have about 30 of these reports and some are quite complex, I don't want to re make all of them!

Why when I update the data source does it fix it in the crystal preview but doesn't seem to save the settings?

I think the issue has been present since an update to the sql database it is linked to, however the table names have not changed.
