Environment:Crystal Reports 2013 SP2

: CrystalReportsServer 2011 on Windows 2008 R2.

IS there a way to do the following in Crystal Reports.

I am trying to combine essentially two reports into one report because the reports are identical except the filters are based on two different columns (Name) ,(Position)of the same table and the columns are not related.

So when an user picks which report they want , provided by the first parameter.

Lets say they pick the report that needs to filter on "Name" the Prompt's LOV that has the names from the Name column should be displayed. If they choose Position then another prompt with the values of positions as LOV values should be displayed. Its about displaying two different prompt panels based on the first parameter value they pick.

If you are using Crystal Reports Server, then you can create Dynamic Data Connection in Business View Manager based on the first parameter. Then create a Business view and report will connect to the Business View.
