Use of Confirmation Activities in e-Recruiting

Hi all,

What is the functional use of the confirmation activities in a Recruitment process?

I mean for instance, in case of an Invitation for an interrview, the recruiter sends the invitation to the Candidate and s/he picks one time slot from the available ones.

What is the next step? How does the confirmation activity play a role in this process? Can the Confirmation activity be understood as defining who is going to be there?
