Hello together,

I'd like to discuss the topic of deleting Fiori caches at runtime and it's effect.

Scenario, for example a production bug occurs that should be fixed immediately.

Therefore I understand the following:

  1. Upload the ui5 application triggers an automatic index calculation for the cache buster(TA SE38 Program /UI5/APP_INDEX_CALCULATE)
  2. After that we delete all client caches: TA SE38 Program /UI2/INVALIDATE_CLIENT_CACHES
  3. Normally when we've got a downtime we trigger SE38 /UI2/INVALIDATE_GLOBAL_CACHES, too.
  4. Finally reset the caches of the ICM with TA SMICM GOTO /HTTP / Server Cache / Invalidate globally

Question:

We've tried it a few times without deticting negative effects for the end users. I can imagine a scenario where a "mixed versions" could occur through the lazy loading technique of the applications.

What are the risks of deleting the caches during active operation?

best regards

Kai
