One of our jobs gets executed almost everyday when a file arrives to a specified directory. Is there any way to get an alert if for some reason the file does not arrives? (and for instance, the job is not executed)
If you have alerting setup in your environment, this can be achieved through job status. Based on the average arrival time of the event everyday, the job can be scheduled with some buffer time. The job will be in scheduled status and will move to running immediately when the events arrives. If scheduled instance crossed the buffer or average start time, the job state will be moved to "Eventwait". You can set up alerting for this particular job, so that an alert will be triggered when the job moved to Eventwait status, which confirms that event has not arrived yet for that particular day.
